Quarterflash at CG Hotel

Quarterflash was a wildly popular dance band that played every bar between Seattle and Portland in the late ‘70s. In 1980 they recorded an original song called “Harden My Heart” which became their first national hit. Since then, the band has released four albums, plus solo material from band leaders Marv and Rindy Ross.

The Sounds of Summer Concert Series continues on Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Columbia Gorge Hotel in Hood River. Tickets are $30 in advance.

Summer Smack Down with Bigfoot and Austin Heat

The Austin Heat band — expect powerhouse Texas funk-rock — is in town early next month for some Gorge shows. They’re teaming up with local rockers Bigfoot for a three-day extravaganza. Support them at a venue near you:

‘Greencards’ play house concert

House concerts for the Mid Columbia Folklore Society continue with music from two members of The Greencards on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. Time magazine says the Greencards play “Laid-back tunes that land in the sweet spot halfway between Americana and bluegrass.” The house concert is at 401 Montello Ave., Hood River. This show benefits the Mid-Columbia Folklore Society and donations are accepted at the door.

Laurie Star Duo in Hood River

The Laurie Start Duo, featuring Laurie Star and Steven Martin, are touring Hood River through September. Catch them at the Hood River Elks Lodge on Fridays, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.; Aug. 3 at the Naked Winery, performing as Laurie Star & The Fire Crackers (five-piece ensemble) from 8-11 p.m.; Aug. 10 and 17 at 1301 Steak & Spirits from 7-10 p.m.; Aug. 18, Sept. 1 and Sept. 22 at the Mt. Hood Winery from 1-4 p.m.

The Laurie Star Duo has been making popular music together for 35 years. Along with their bluesy creative covers they can play lots of original songs.

‘Hello Dollface’ at Pint Shack

Hello Dollface is a Colorado-based indie/soul act on their third West Coast tour. They’ll be making a stop in Hood River on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 9 p.m. at the Pint Shack. Hello Dollface’s music has been described as “delectable melodies and lyrics, with an enjoyable intensity and depth. Back Porch Swing in Mosier

Back Porch Swing is based in Olympia and plays an eclectic mix of country swing, jazz swing, Celtic, fiddle tunes and original songs. They recently were the headliner act at the Tumbleweed Festival in Richland. Catch them at the Thirsty Woman in Mosier on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 7-9 p.m. No cover charge.
