Pass Punt and Kick fundraiser Sept. 7
As a fundraiser to help offset equipment costs for Hood River youth football programs, an evening of friendly competition, followed by a barbecue and football movie fundraiser, is scheduled for Sept. 7 at the Hood River Valley High School football field. The NFL Punt, Pass and Kick contests will run from 4-6 p.m. and will be divided into five age groups for kids ages 6-16.
The contest is free, with the fundraising effort afterward, in the form of a barbecue and movie viewing at the same location from 6 to about 9:30 p.m. No gear is required to participate, and cleats are not allowed. Pre-registration is not required; just show up at the HRVHS field Sept. 7 before 4 p.m. For more information, contact Hood River Community Education Director John Rust at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Dallman earns USL Pro Assist title
Hood River native and professional soccer player Matt Dallman was honored last week with the USL PRO league’s Assist Champion for his role on the Pittsburg Riverhounds. Dallman, a midfielder, set a new league record with 12 assists during the regular season. Dallman’s teammate, Jose Angulo, earned the league’s Scoring Champion award, and the 2003 Hood River Valley High School graduate was credited with assisting many of Angulo’s goals and a third of the team’s goals throughout the season. The Riverhounds ended in the middle of the pack in a 13-team league with a 10-8-8 record.
