Gorge Roublaix rolls March 24

Breakaway Promotions announces a new, and rugged, cycling event for the Gorge.

Gorge Roublaix comes March 24 to The Dalles.

The 32-mile loop rolls through the wheat country of eastern Oregon on farm roads and pavement.

The race will start at Dry Hollow Elementary School in The Dalles. CAT 1-2, CAT 3, and Masters CAT 2-3 will do two laps for a total of 71.7 miles and 4156 feet of elevation.

Prizes range from $100 to $300. View the course map and elevation profile at http://bit.ly/XlAb8P.

OBRA membership is required for this event. You can purchase an annual OBRA license ($20 online or $25 on paper) or a temporary one-day license for $5.

Riders can pre-register online at http://bit.ly/11njYbi or via United State Postal Service by downloading the registration form and release at http://bit.ly/Y7UTtv.

Registration fees are $30 up until midnight on March 22 or $35 for day of race registration.

The Roublaix course borrows some of the same ground as similar events, but will be a grueling event in its own right.

“It’s as dangerous as you make it,” writes promoter Chad Sperry in the website for the event, found on the Gorge Roublaix Facebook page.
