‘It will change your life . . .’

Brooke Brown, Advisory Board Member with Big Brothers Big Sisters writes:

“With a new year upon us, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia Gorge would like to recognize the many contributions from our Columbia Gorge community.

On behalf of BBBS’ staff and the Advisory Board, we’d like to express our gratitude for the kind, generous support of the work we do and the children we serve.

First we’d like to thank the Beneventi’s. The family, friends and employees of Beneventi’s Pizza of Bingen/White Salmon, Wash., raised $2500 through their recent garage sale. Since 2006, Beneventi’s efforts have raised nearly $20,000 for BBBS’ work in Klickitat County. Beneventi’s will raise additional funds with their Lasagna Feed Friday, Feb. 15. Save the date!

“We also want to thank the Hood River Leos sponsored by the Hood River Lions Eyeopeners. This group of amazing kids (approximately 75 sixth through 12th graders) donated their time this past summer selling candy and popcorn at “Movies in the Park” to raise $1,089. With an additional $600 anonymous matching contribution, they raised $1,689. Leos also raises money for multiple teams for Bowl for Kids’ Sake and donates the proceeds from their March Bottle and Can recycling to the event.

In addition, thank you to G. Williker’s Toy Shoppe. Throughout the holiday season the folks at G. Williker’s provide gift wrapping to their customers. The cost of gift wrapping is free, but donations for BBBS are graciously accepted.

This season, nearly $770 was donated by shoppers to support the work of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia Gorge.

There are many, many more folks in the Columbia Gorge community who support the program, we apologize we are unable to mention them all but they are just as dear to our hearts.”
