The scene begins with Beatrice Barbara Cotton (Bea) and her friend Sonja Sanchez texting to one another about how dull and boring their lives are. Bea’s mom asks her to dust off some old bottles for their garage sale.
One bottle happens to catch Bea’s eye, and upon her words “I wish, I wish, I wish,” a puff of smoke and flash of lights reveals an energetic young genie dressed in ‘60s attire.
So begins the new musical “Three-and-a-Half Wishes” opening this weekend at Hood River Middle School, written by Mark Steighner and presented by students and staff at HRMS. The fun show is a humorous illustration of the old adage “Be careful what you wish for.”
