Jennifer Bailey, 41, of Hood River, pleaded guilty to Theft I tied to her embezzlement of $21,451.92 in cash from the Hood River County Little League. Bailey was arrested Nov. 20 and was originally charged with theft in the first degree-aggravated, and forgery in the second degree.
Appearing before Hood River Circuit Court Judge John Olson with her guilty plea on Feb. 25, Bailey received a sentence of six days in jail with credit for time served, and 18 months supervised probation. She must also serve 120 hours of community service and pay a fine of $2,500.
The plea and sentencing were the result of an agreement reached with the Hood River County District Attorney’s office. The Hood River Little League losses were primarily covered by insurance.
At her sentencing, Bailey offered a statement in which she acknowledged making “bad choices” after a series of unexpected life events. She apologized to family and friends. Bailey’s criminal defense attorney, Brian Starns, noted that Bailey was now receiving professional help.
