Marine Board holds meeting on no-wake zone

Representatives from the Oregon State Marine Board will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 5 p.m. at the Marina Center Ballroom, 1000 E. Port Marina Drive in Hood River, on a proposed boating rule near Hood River.

The board seeks public input on a rule that would restrict boat operation within the artificial lagoon on the immediate west side of the mouth of the Hood River.

The rule would create a slow-no-wake zone within a marked area of approximately 494-by-155 feet. The area is heavily used by swimmers, sail and kite boarders and personal watercraft engaged in instruction activities.

Written comments can be submitted until Jan. 31. Comments can be emailed to osmb.rulemaking@ or mailed to June LeTarte, Rules Coordinator, 435 Commercial St. N.E., Suite 400, P.O. Box 14145, Salem, OR 97309-5056. Comments via telephone cannot be accepted.
