HRV wrestling 2-2 at Oregon Classic
Eagle wrestling traveled to Central Oregon over the weekend for the annual Oregon Wrestling Classic. The dual-meet tournament brings many of the best teams to Redmond for two days of butting heads to see who is the best of the best at the mid-point of the season.
Hood River’s varsity team opened with wins against Sherwood (51-21) and Bend (60-10) and a loss against Dallas (45-26) on the first day of the tournament to advance to the quarterfinals the following day. In a rematch from last week’s dual, HRV faced Hermiston and was bumped out of the tournament with a tough 55-13 loss.
Hermiston went on to win the tournament with a 48-18 win against Dallas in the finals. Redmond defeated Sandy 49-27 to claim third place.
The team wrestles next Wednesday at Stevenson in the annual Battle of the Bridge tournament.

Wrestling correction
In an article on page A7 of the Jan. 19 Hood River News covering Hood River Valley High School wrestling team’s dual against Hermiston, an error was made in reporting the 285-pound match. It was actually Ramone Ramirez who lost the match by fall; not Brandon Dominguez as was reported.
