An Oregon State Police traffic stop last Thursday led to the arrest of a Pasco, Wash., man after an OSP drug detection canine and trooper discovered more than 4 pounds of crystal methamphetamine concealed in a vehicle along Interstate 84 in Hood River.
On Jan. 24, at approximately 3:05 p.m., an OSP senior trooper stopped a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada displaying Washington license plates for a traffic violation westbound I-84 near milepost 62. The vehicle’s driver was identified as Omar Huerta-Garcia, 29, from Pasco.
Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led the trooper, with the assistance of an OSP drug detection canine, to discover 2 kilos — approximately 4.4 pounds — of crystal methamphetamine concealed in the vehicle.
Estimated value of the seized drugs is $65,000.
Huerta-Garcia was taken into custody and lodged in the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility on charges of unlawful possession and delivery of a controlled substance — methamphetamine. OSP Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.
