The Friends of Mount Adams is sponsoring three different hikes into the Mount Adams area on Aug. 10. The hikes feature Mount Adams views, waterfalls and wildflowers, with experienced leaders knowledgeable about the area’s history, botany and geology.
The hikes will be in and through the Bird Creek Meadows area and are all rated easy. Experienced hike leaders will be guides.
Hike options are:
n Bird Creek Meadows, Trail of Wildflowers, Hellroaring Viewpoint; 4.5 miles
n Bird Creek Meadows, Crooked Creek Waterfall, Aiken Lava-bed; 4.4 miles
n Bird Lake, Crooked Creek, Round the Mtn. Trail, Hellroaring Viewpoint, Bluff Lake; 6 miles
The meeting place for the hikes is the Trout Lake School at 8 a.m., with return at 4 p.m. Attendees should bring water, lunch, rain gear, hat and mosquito spray, and wear hiking shoes or boots; no flip-flops or sandals. Cameras and hiking poles are optional. No dogs will be allowed. A trail map will be provided.
There is a maximum of 10 people for each hike plus two leaders.
