Two summers ago, we all watched the north side of Mount Hood burn. How would you like to get a first-hand look at the recovery of this fire-ravaged forest?
Join U.S. Forest Service Silviculturist Whitney Olsker, Assistant Fire Management Officer Leo Segovia and the Hood River Watershed Group on a hike through the Dollar Lake Fire burn area, Aug. 3.
Through this 6-mile hike, participants will learn about different fire behaviors, discuss the firefighting efforts and impacts and explore the aftermath and recovery.
The tour will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will cost $17. Transportation will be provided.
Space is limited, so register today with Hood River Community Education online at www.hoodriver.k12.or.us/coe or by calling 541-386-2055.
