Sugardaddies featured on Mt. Hood RR mystery train

Local band the Sugardaddies, featuring keyboardist Mark Womble, are the featured dance band for the Saturday, June 29, Mt. Hood Railroad Murder Mystery Dinner Train. The train leaves the station in Hood River at 5:30 p.m. and returns at 9:30 p.m. For tickets and information visit www.mthoodrr.com.

‘Har-di-Har’ at Trillium Cafe

“Har-di-Har is a Midwest-based multi-instrumental duo. The two navigate dream-folk and glass-pop soundscapes while splitting the drum parts between separate hands and feet. The result is a voice-melding sonic assault of the senses that's played the way three-legged contest are won — familial, yet strangely enchanting, heart-strung wonderment that seems a portrait (as much as an expression) of the obviously-compassionate pair.”

The band will be playing a show with local Hood River band Gorilla Eggs, on Friday, July 28, at the Trillium Cafe. The show begins at 10 p.m. Trillium Cafe, 207 Oak St., Hood River, 541-308-0800.

Ruby Pines at CEBU Lounge

This week at CEBU Lounge:

Friday, June 28: The Lower 48, 9:30 p.m. – Catchy, Up-tempo Folk Pop

“Finding harmonies in the youth's hope and melancholy, The Lower 48 craft folk songs you could swear you have been humming for years. The upstarts braid together nimble lyrics, haunting harmonies, and deceptively simple arrangements, making the beautiful noises of lives still to be lived.”

Saturday, June 29: Ruby Pines, 9:30 p.m. – Soul vs. Indie vs. Folk. “Portland-based The Ruby Pines is “soul vs. indie vs. folk.” Michael Backus plays a blues-minded guitar, as Moorea Masa's soulful vocals reverberate throughout.

“Whether blues, dreamy indie-folk, or a finger- snapping Gospel choir drives the back sound, it's always stripped down- the better to highlight Masa's powerful vocals. Her real talent as a singer lies in the ability to communicate a range of emotion, and the raw edge in her voice could break a heart in two.”

Best Western Hood River Inn, 1108 E. Marina Way; 541-386-2200.

Barlow Road at Double Mt June 29

Barlow Road will be playing this Saturday, June 29, at Double Mountain Brewery in Hood River. Show starts at 9 p.m. and there is no cover charge. “Hailing from the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, Barlow Road is a five-piece band playing original roots-rock, Americana, and alt-country--whatever that is. Matt Mesa is the principal songwriter and melodically crafts songs about love, life, asphalt, dirt, and everything else we get on ourselves into.” Double Mountain Brewery, 8 Fourth St., Hood River; 541-387-0042.
