Cascade Locks disc golf course naming contest deadline March 22

A new disc golf course in Cascade Locks opened this month and awaits an official name. The Port and City of Cascade Locks are holding a naming contest for all Cascade Locks residents that will award $100 to the winning entry.

The course opened last weekend with an official ribbon cutting ceremony and is located on Port property east of town off Industrial Park Way.

Hood River Elks host adult hoops contests

The Hood River Elks invite adult basketball buffs to celebrate March Madness with a round of friendly competition March 23 at the Elks Lodge. Adult free throw and three-point contests will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will continue with a 2 p.m. open elimination tournament. Entry fee is $5 and contestants will be divided into men and women and in age divisions. Cash and other prizes will be awarded and proceeds from the contest will go toward upgrades to the lodge’s athletic facilities.

Indian Creek Men’s Golf hosts scramble results

Low-net duos of Pete Hickson/Tom Dalbey and Jim Slusher/Yoyo Cervantes finished in a tie for first place at 57 in a recent Indian Creek Men’s Golf Association two-man scramble. The contest was the first of the year for the group and brought out 32 golfers to brave the early season wind and weather. Ron Yamashita and Randy Yoshimura finished with 61, followed by another tie at 62 between Kelly Yackley/Scott Linden and Ron Anderson/Scott Reynier.

Low-gross winners Kevin and Jake Morgan finished at 64, followed by Roger Barry and Denis Thomas with 66.

The next ICMGA event is the Spring Handicap tournament April 13-14.

CGORA hosts group ride

Columbia Gorge Off-Road Association is hosting a group motorcycle trail ride on March 24, starting at 10 a.m. The group will meet at the Pine Mont staging area (1.2 miles up Pine Mont Road) and will ride 30-plus miles of single-track. The ride is free and is open to A and B level riders. For more information check out
