Veterans Voice: New web site designed for veterans’ health

The Veteran Health Administration has created a new program — “MyHealtheVet” www.myhealth.va.gov.

MyHealtheVet is an online Personal Health Record that empowers veterans to become informed partners in their health care. With MyHealtheVet, America’s Veterans can access trusted, secure and current health and benefit information at their convenience.

The MyHealtheVet Representatives will be in Hood River on May 16 to help County Veterans Service Officer, Les Logsdon, assist veterans to gain Online Access to the Veteran’s VA Medical Records and other services. This seminar will be held at the Columbia Gorge Community College computer lab, 1730 College Way, Room 309, Hood River, OR 97031. Space is limited. Call the Veterans Service Office at 541-386-1080.

The MyHealtheVet services consist of a website with online access for: reordering prescriptions, prescription history, secure messaging (like emailing your doctor), see past and future appointments and lab and test results (VA Chemistry/Hematology.

It will be a great place for the veteran to create his/her lifelong health record for emergency contacts, caregivers, insurance providers, treatment facilities, vitals and readings, health history (allergies, immunizations, etc.) and down loading outside medical records.

This service provides one place for all your health information that you can access anywhere! No more trying to remember important information! No more repeating the same history to different people!

In the future, MyHealtheVet will have medical records and co-pay options.

We are looking forward to a good turn-out from our veterans.
