Country Dance returns Nov. 9
The Second Saturday Country Dance at the Rockford Grange on Barrett Road in Hood River is back on Nov. 9 from 7-10 p.m. The dance caller will be Ned Leager from Portland and live music will be provided from Lanny and the Georgettes. Dance lessons will begin at 7 p.m. All ages welcome, no partner required. Family friendly, all dances walked through first time. ‘Speedqueen’ plays Nov. 9
It’s the return of Speedqueen Underground to Double Mountain Brewery on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9-11 p.m. Expect danceable pop-rock from these local underground rockers. Countryside Ride in Trout Lake
Countryside Ride Band, a Northwest classic country/western and roots-style honky-tonk band, will be at the historic Trout Lake Inn on Saturday, Nov. 16, starting at 8 p.m. Portland band Copper & Coal opens the show with its “tight harmonies, soaring pedal steel and fiddle, and a deep respect for the country tradition of the ’40s and ’50s” sound. This fun-filled, all-ages event is where you can don your favorite cowboy boots, kick up your heels and dance to classic country music. $5 admission. Tony Marcus plays Nov. 7
On Thursday, Nov. 7, Hood River has an opportunity to hear Tony Marcus, a “longtime presence on the San Francisco Bay Area acoustic music scene.” From a start playing traditional folk music in his first band with Laurie Lewis and Kate Brislin, to the jazzier sounds of more recent years (Leftover Dreams, Cats & Jammers) Tony has mastered the guitar, violin and other stringed instruments — as well as contributing strong vocals.
