Photos with Santa helps Adopt A Dog program

Bring your favorite furry friend or human to Adopt A Dog’s Photos with Santa event at the Hood River Hotel every Sunday through Dec. 22. Santa will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and volunteers of Adopt A Dog will coordinate the photo taking so you can go home with a photo of yourself and Santa, your kids and Santa or maybe even your dog with Santa. You can also get an electronic version of your photo emailed to you.

All proceeds of this event will benefit the dogs of the Hood River Adopt A Dog program. The cost is $8 per photo. If you are interested in providing a home for a dog call Adopt A Dog at 541-354-1083 or visit hoodriveradoptadog.org.

Sasquatch is coming Dec. 28

Columbia Gorge Discovery Center presents “Sasquatch Revealed,” a new exhibit opening Saturday, Dec. 28, with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and a speaker presentation by Dr. Jeff Meldrum and Chris Murphy following at 6:30 p.m. This exhibit draws from all the available scientific research and evidence compiled to date on the hominoid known as Sasquatch, or Bigfoot. ‘Countryside’ at Everybody’s

There’s free Friday night music at Everybody’s Nov. 29 featuring country band Countryside Ride. Music starts at 9:30 p.m. Since 2007, Bret Ervin Lien (vocal, guitar), Josh Todd (vocal, Telecaster), and Miss Jessica (vocal, bass), Franz Sanger (fiddle) and recently Larry Wise (pedal-steel guitar) have been playing classic country, honky-tonk, Western swing, and dance hall favorites.

Benefit for Owen Stolte Dec. 7

The Lloyd Jones Struggle will play a benefit blues concert for Owen Stolte at Double Mountain Brewery on Saturday, Dec. 7. Guitarist Lloyd Jones and his band plays horn-driven New Orleans blues and R&B along with great original songwriting. Suggested donation is $20, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Free Holiday films at Skylight

For nine years Skylight Theatre in Hood River has featured free admission for special holiday films in December. This year, enjoy two films “Arthur Christmas” on Dec. 13, 15, 21 and 24; and “Polar Express” on Dec. 14, 20 and 23. Movies are rated G and all shows start at noon. Tallman Band at White House

The Gorge White House will be open on Thanksgiving Weekend with music and special guest winemakers. Hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

On Saturday, welcome guest wine maker Steve Mason from Major Creek along with live music from The Dave Tallman Band from 2:30-5:30 p.m. On Sunday, the band plays from 2-5 p.m. The Gorge White House, 2265 Highway 35, Hood River; 541-386-2828.

Groove Project Christmas Dec. 8

If you like a little jazz, or a little groove in your Christmas music then get ready for the Groove Project Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m., at the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River. It’s the time of year for cool, soulful, jazz-infused renditions of all the Christmas standards.

The band features Tim Mayer (keys), Rick Hulett (guitar), Char Mayer (vocals), Mike Stillman (sax), Ryan McAlexander (bass), Tim Ortlieb (drums) and probably a few more musical friends stopping by. Tickets at the door are $10, $5 for seniors, students and children.
