This week volunteers at Adopt A Dog have selected Poca as the program’s adoptable pet of the week. They describe her as follows:
“November is Adopt A Senior Pet month and Poca has waited patiently for her time in the spotlight! Poca is about 10 years old, maybe 8 pounds, and was rescued from a bad living situation where she was outside in a shed with dirt floors, 14 other dogs scrambling all over the place and no real human attention (imagine 10 years of that?) but she is adjusting to her new life filled with food and warmth and hugs just fine — who wouldn’t?
“Poca mostly just likes to spend her days being held, now. When she first arrived, she hid in the corner and made no eye contact, and she was a sad sight to see; but once she figured out people are awesome, she turned into a little shadow to anyone willing to look her way! She prances around like the happy little girl she is. She follows us here, she follows us there; she follows anyone anywhere!
“Poca would love to go to a loving home where she can get all the attention she can handle. But not to worry — when she’s alone she’s calm and gentle and just waits to see if more cuddles are on the way. Poca especially likes, and has earned, a cozy bed in a sunny spot where she can watch the goings-on around her. She would like it pointed out that she is the perfect size to fit on anyone’s lap!”
Poca is current on shots, microchipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $115. The fee to adopt is charged to recoup standard veterinary expenses.
Since many of AAD’s dogs are in foster care, please call ahead to meet Poca at the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Drive, Odell; 541-354-1083. Adoption hours are Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-11 a.m. Applications may be downloaded at hoodriveradoptadog.org and faxed to 877-833-7166.
The Adopt A Dog program offers 24PetWatch microchips, which include free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. (For more information visit 24petwatch.com or call 866-597-2424.)
