Children’s Sabbath event is Sunday

Hood River will join with other faith communities around the nation observing Children’s Sabbath Oct. 20, to lift up children in prayer at a special Prayer Service for Children at 4 p.m. at Hood River Valley Christian Church.

Community leaders, parents and grandparents in our community will pray for specific issues that face children.

The theme for this 40th-year celebration is “Beating Swords Into Plowshares: Ending the Violence of Guns and Child Poverty.”

The community is invited to join in a service of music and spoken prayer for children in our community, nation and the world. Valley Christian Church is located at 975 Indian Creek Road, Hood River.

While the title is drawn from the Hebrew prophet Micah, it affirms values of non-violence, peace-making, and economic well-being found across all of our religious traditions,” said Rev. Linda Presley of Valley Christian.
