The community is invited to attend the sixth Gorge Angel Conference, scheduled for Nov. 5 at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River. Registration deadline is Oct. 30.
For the first time, due to scholarships provided courtesy of Business Oregon and the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network, a special discounted rate for “entrepreneurs only” to attend the conference is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year’s event will highlight OEN Gorge Accelerator Boot Camp2 company graduates who will present their business models for exposure to expertise and investment. The presenting company lineup includes Blueshift (battery-free portable electric speakers); MTMCare (connector of pharmacists and patients); Columbia Cochon (antibiotic- and hormone-free pork artisan sausage); Green Top Table & Bar Top Supply (eco-friendly restaurant design table and bar tops); PocketFuel (whole food-based nutrition for active individuals and athletes) and Small Planet Travel (unique travel reference cards).
To get ready for investment opportunities, these companies prepare over eight weeks with a team of mentors and coaches in fields with expertise in marketing, PR, public speaking and product development, as well as legal and accounting experts, and emerge with a polished investor ready presentation.
Other highlights of the event include lunch, networking, keynote presentation and a panel of companies sharing their stories and experience about raising capital.
The event concludes with the announcement of the audience favorite and the LivePitch $500 cash prize winner courtesy of Palo Alto Software.
The keynote presentation, “Current Trends in Investing: What Founders & Angel Investors Need to Know,” will be provided by Chris Logan, a successful serial entrepreneur who has raised several rounds of funding for multiple firms in the Bay area.
Logan will talk about what he is seeing in the Northwest in terms of trends and shifts specifically in regard to investing (Angel, Seed, A-Rounds) as well as mergers and acquisitions. Logan will share his list of what investors and founders need to know.
An active participant in the Portland entrepreneurial ecosystem, Logan is an executive director of the Portland 100, a board member of StarveUps, and a mentor at the Portland Seed Fund and other local incubators and accelerators. His seed investments include, Cloudability, GlobeSherpa, Vizify, and AthletePat.
The OEN Gorge Accelerator Boot Camp2 was made possible through grant funding to the OEN from the Oregon Community Foundation. Several Boot Camp2 scholarships were provided to eligible food entrepreneurs by the Gorge Grown Food Network, via grant funding from the Meyer Memorial Trust.
