Rural Rampage fun fundraiser is Sunday
The second-annual Rural Rampage adventure race and school fundraiser is set for this Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. at Hood River Middle School. Check-in and day-of registration for the event begins at 8:45 a.m.
The event features teams of two biking around town and completing a number of different challenges and obstacles, which are timed/scored. One member of the team needs to be 16 or older, and both must have bikes, helmets and water. Proceeds from the event will benefit HRMS and HRVHS school programs.
Volleyball faces tough David Douglas
Hood River Valley High School’s varsity volleyball team traveled to David Douglas this week for its season opener against the 6A Mt. Hood Conference Scots. The Eagles started strong, going up early in the first set and winning it 25-20. The girls suffered a slew of errors and dropped the next three games (25-23, 25-24, 25-20) to finish with the loss.
As a side note, the varsity team has six seniors this year, not five as was reported in Wednesdays’ team preview story. Senior Megan Tegman was left out of the list, which also includes Kayla Byers, Tabitha Merten, Mara Troxel, Sydney McHale and Rachel Lahti.
ASA softball recruiting players 10-14
Hood River’s ASA softball program has openings for next spring’s season for players in age groups 10, 12 and 14. Anyone interested in playing in the spring tournament program should attend a tryout scheduled for noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at Westside Elementary School.
