We had quite a match last week between teams 3 Fingers Deep and Hood River Supply for the championship of the Monday night Industrial league at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes. The first game went to Hood River Supply, 7 points to 2, with Ken Kramer, Jan Halstead and Jeff Chenier providing the firepower with 223, 218 and 205 games respectively. 3 Fingers Deep responded big-time, taking the second and third games, 14 points to 4 and they took total pins for the three game match by 77 sticks for another 3 points, wining the match, 19 points to 11.
3 Fingers Deep was powered by Matt Weber, who was 156 pins over his average for the night. Along with Matt, 3 Fingers Deep stalwarts Jaymes Youtsey and Quinton Cox were 79 and 75 pins over their averages for the night.
That’s the recipe for success: Bowl over your average when it counts. Congratulations to Quinton Cox, Chris Perry, Matt Weber, Jaymes Youtsey and Jason Kahler for taking the cake in the Industrial league.
We want to take this opportunity to thank everybody who bowled in this great league, all 12 teams, who made it special every week. It was great fun and we can’t wait to see you next season.
Things were really running hot in the Industrial league on its last night. In addition to the exciting championship match, just look at these great individual performances:
Spencer Johnisee really found some magic, firing a huge 253 game and a beautiful 622 series — his first 600 series. Young Spencer was an incredible 223 pins over his average, which may be a record; we’ve never seen anybody bowl that many pins over their average, meaning, hands down, Spencer is the Bowler of the Week.
But that wasn’t all: George (The) Buck stops here, racked up a super 643 series, which included three 200 games and he was 127 pins over his average for the session; Larry Scroggins notched a big 235 game and he was 124 pins over his average for the night; Mike Wilbur was 122 pins over his average for the outing; Rocky Linebarger rolled a nice 607 series and he was 118 pins over his average for the set; Bob Mason shot a solid 627 series and he was 117 pins over his average for the night and John Miller tossed a fine 222 game.
It’s too bad this was the last night of league for all of these guys as they all looked like champs.
There was one more outstanding effort that we cannot overlook. Topping our Team of the Week for the first time this season is the lanky Matt Hodges, who blasted a stellar 728 series in the Wednesday night Fraternal league. Matt, who has unlimited potential, has been in a bit of a slump this season but this is the way to break out of it. With his talent there is no reason that he can’t do this every week, Matt was 152 pins over his average for this outing.
Great bowling everybody!
