The Parkdale Garden Club is hosting this year’s annual Hood River District meeting on Saturday, April 26, at 9 a.m. at the Parkdale Grange Hall, and anyone in the community who is interested in the garden club is welcome to come to the free event.
“Hats Off to Spring” is this year’s theme and attendees are encouraged to wear hats decorated with fresh or silk flowers to honor the occasion and win prizes for their efforts.
A continental breakfast of rolls, fruit, juice and coffee will be served at 9 a.m., followed by the meeting, then a lunch of smoked turkey provided by the Parkdale Garden Club.
After the luncheon, Paul Marcott, a Master Gardener from the University of California at Davis, will do a presentation on the Gardens of Southeast Asia.
The Hood River District garden clubs include Dufur, Maupin, Odell, Hood River Evening and Parkdale.

A Mother’s Day breakfast will be served up at the Parkdale Grange this year on Sunday, May 11, from 7:30-11:30 a.m.
As always, the Grange ladies will have a little something special for the mothers who come out for the occasion.
This will be the final Parkdale Grange breakfast for the year and everyone is invited to visit with friends and neighbors and enjoy scrambled eggs, sausage, homemade applesauce and a choice of biscuits and gravy or pancakes with coffee, juice, tea, or hot chocolate.
Cost is just $6 for adults, $4 for children 5-12 and under 5 are free.
The Parkdale Grange would like to thank all those who came out this past weekend to support its annual Blossom Fest Dinner and Parkdale Garden Club sale.
“We had a bus load of folks from Down Manor in Hood River, another busload of visitors from Portland, the Sunset Harley motorcycle group and all the locals who came out to enjoy dinner and buy plants,” said Jean Hardman, Garden Club president and Parkdale Grange treasurer. “Thank you everyone for helping to support these wonderful groups that do good things for our community.”
Upper Valley Tai Chi enthusiasts are invited to join in the World Tai Chi Day event this Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m. at Hood River Middle School.
The meeting place is the plaza on the east side of the cafeteria, but will move to the covered areas if it rains.
Everyone is welcome, from newcomers to advanced, to practice together or divide into smaller groups and practice different forms simultaneously.
