Pet of the week: ‘Chug’ Marty likes lap time and treats

This week volunteers at Adopt A Dog have selected Marty as the program’s adoptable pet of the week. They describe him as follows:

“Marty is a one to two year old Chug weighing in at 22 pounds. He’s not really sure about new things, but good-ol’ things like cuddly lap time or treats are super special. Marty is starting to show off his playful, silly side and loves to bounce after toys and chase and romp with other dogs. He sure is starting to have fun! And walks? He loves to go on walks...and car rides, too! Don’t forget the car ride! Marty has a big bark when he meets some people or other dogs, but he’s a sweetie in no time. He’d really like to get into his forever home soon, though, and he’s all ready to go.

“Marty is current on shots, microchipped and neutered. The adoption fee for Marty is $185. The fee to adopt is charged to recoup standard veterinary expenses. Since many of our dogs are in foster, please call ahead to meet Marty in Odell at the Hukari Animal Shelter 3910 Heron Dr., Hood River, or call for more information at 541-354-1083. Adoption hours are Wed., 5-7 p.m. and Sat., 9-11 a.m. You can fill out an application online at our website:, or download and scan and email to us at, or fax it in to 1-877-833-7166. We offer 24PetWatch microchips, which include free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service.”
