MacMillan at Sandbar Cafe

Jim MacMillan, Jerry Keith and Randy Bell will be taking a few new tunes out on the town for the first time for an summer evening of music at the Sandbar Cafe on the waterfront in Hood River, Friday, Aug. 29, 6-8 p.m.

McDougall in Dufur Aug. 30

Enjoy a concert at one of Oregon’s oldest hotels, the Historic Balch Hotel on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 5-8 p.m. with the “Foot Stomping Americana” of McDougall. The concerts are free and open to the entire family. Pampered Palette Catering will be onhand for dinner. Guests can bring a blanket, lawn chair, or just enjoy the lawn. Balch Hotel, 40 S. 3 Speed Trio at Pines Aug. 29

This week at The Pines: Friday, Aug. 29, 6-9 p.m., 3 Speeed Trio. “The group has found a voice playing jazz standards and modern rock tunes with a contemporary jazz twist.” Saturday, Aug. 30 1-4 p.m. Chris Stewart. “Chris Stewart’s music embodies the heart of a singer-songwriter. Harvest Moon Walk Sept. 8

Take time to appreciate the Harvest moon on Monday, Sept. 8 when the Discovery Center offers a free interpretive walk down the scenic Riverfront Trail. Meet natural and cultural history interpreter Steve Thompson in front of the Discovery Center at 6:30 p.m. for this one hour hike.

As the sun sets, take advantage of the opportunity to ask questions about native plants, Lewis and Clark, or the many Oregon Trail historic sites along the way. The path is paved and handicap-accessible. Hikers may continue off-trail on a moderately-sloped descent down to the banks and shallows of the Columbia River. The crest of the moon’s full phase comes at 6:38 p.m. PDT. This full moon night is one of the brightest for the Americas.

Bring your friends and family for this free event, but please leave pets at home.

Annalisa Tornfelt at Trout Lake Abbey Saturday
