Elk’s ‘Most Valuable Student’ scholarship deadline Dec. 5

The Hood River Elks Local “Most Valuable Student” Scholarship deadline is Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. Applications must be registered online, but must be turned into the Hood River Elks Lodge, located at Third and Cascade, by 6 p.m. Applications may also be turned in to the high school by 5 p.m. For those who need assistance, call Linda Sanders, Scholarship Chairman, at 541-490-0709. Three boys and three girls will be chosen from local applications. The winner will then go on to District and possibly State and Nationals, with scholarships available from $500 to $50,000.

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2015 competition.

Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply. Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks. College students are not eligible to apply.

Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify. Male and female students compete separately.
