OSU holds session on bark beetles

Oregon State University Extension Service is holding a presentation and discussion session Dec. 6 on Bark Beetle Infestations and Tree Health in the Hood River area. The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the OSU Extension Service Conference Room at 2990 Experiment Station Drive, Hood River. (Turn east next to Your Party and Rental Center.)

This free session will help participants learn about local tree health issues and the continuing infestation of bark beetles in Ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir in the Hood River area.

The main topics include managing for healthy trees and forests, updates on the major beetle species, guidelines for removal and disposal of infested trees, and sources of assistance.

The program will be led by Glenn Ahrens, OSU Extension Forestry. Space is limited, so registration is required by calling the Hood River Extension Office at 541-386-3343 or email debbie.mcdonald@oregonstate.edu.
