According to a news release from HRCSO, Eric Alexander VanDyke, 23, is currently residing at 959 Eby Road in Hood River, located off of Eliot Drive. He is on post-prison supervision for two counts of online sexual corruption of a child in the first degree and sexual abuse in the third degree. The county parole office reported that VanDyke was sentenced for the offenses, which occurred in Hood River, in March 2011, and has recently been released from prison.

VanDyke is described as a white male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 225 pounds with brown hair and eyes. Conditions of supervision prohibit him from working or volunteering at a school or day care center. He is not to be in parks, playgrounds or other places where persons under 18 years of age regularly congregate.

HRCSO reported that historically, VanDyke has targeted adolescent females, pre-pubescent females and has a handicapped teenage female victim and adult female victim. Additionally, he was adjudicated as a youth.

In the past, VanDyke accessed victims through church and school sporting events, HRCSO said in the release. He is considered “high-risk” based on his scores on risk assessments, which determine the likelihood of reoffending. If seen loitering near a school or church, people are advised to contact 911 immediately.

Any offender misconduct or violations should be reported to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office Parole and Probation Division.

Questions about VanDyke should be directed to Parole and Probation Commander Jamie Hepner at 541-387-7056.

I love how he's apparently been approved for living right near both a church and a school, and he'd have to pass right by them to even enter or leave his residence. And a bus stop right there at Eliot and Eby. And several convenient apartment complexes with insufficiently supervised children...
