On Dec. 6, the Hood River Valley High School Speech and Debate team took 17 students to the Clackamas Holiday Edge Tournament at Clackamas High School. The tournament is the largest in the state, with 47 teams competing from around the region.

Other Hood River competitors to make it to the finals were Darrian Thomas in Impromptu and Nathan Johnson in Novice Impromptu.

The team took a large contingent of students new to Speech and Debate, including Amy Webber, Diego Murphy-Mendez, Lauren Hegemann, Michael McAllister, Nate Miller, Nathan Johnson, and Ruby Patterson. Seniors competing at the tournament were Dakota Bickle, Garrett Kelly, and Nils Engbersen. The team is coached by Delona Campos-Davis with assistance from Jennie Clark and Regena Rafelson.
