‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ to air on Radio Tierra Dec. 25

A holiday gift to the Gorge arrives Christmas Day. Columbia Center for the Arts and Radio Tierra are joining up to air It’s a Wonderful Life on KZAS FM. The show will broadcast at 2 p.m., Dec. 25, on 95.1 Hood River, 95.9 Stevenson, and 107.7 The Dalles.

Playwright Philip Grecian adapted Frank Capra’s uplifting film as a radio play. Matt Rankin plays George Bailey, a man facing financial ruin. On Christmas Eve he decides to commit suicide. In the midst of his despair, friends and family pray to help him through his dark time. Their prayers bring to earth George’s guardian angel Clarence, played by Harold McBain. Clarence shows him what life in the town would have been like without George’s countless selfless deeds. This month CAST Theater performed the play to capacity audiences. During one performance the radio play was recorded for the Radio Tierra. See Happenings, page B3, for details.
