Craven house concert rescheduled to Feb. 24
Because of a performance conflict, Joe Craven’s concert is being bumped by 25 hours – to Monday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m. Please note this is one hour later than usual, because of Ben Bonham’s monthly Monday night gig from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hood River Hotel (details below).
Red and Ruby bring swing to house concert
Red and Ruby make their return to Paul’s House Concert series, March 7, 7 p.m. at Paul and Kristen’s house, 401 Montello St. Donations accepted at the door.
Vocalist LaVon Hardison teams up with swing guitarist Vince Brown for a spirited romp through the roots of jazz and the blues in the 1930s, ‘40s, and beyond. Vince is a seasoned pro on the jazz guitar and LaVon is a stunning singer and mesmerizing performer. Watch the sampler video here:

‘Remember the Rajneeshees’ talk in The Dalles Feb. 22
Oral historian Julie Reynolds will present a program, “Close Encounters: Wasco County Residents Remember the Rajneeshees,” Feb. 22, at the Original Wasco County Courthouse, 410 W.Second Place, The Dalles. The program begins at 1:30 p.m. Seating in the upstairs courtroom and downstairs sheriff’s office is limited. Reynolds has consented to repeat the program later Saturday afternoon if there is an overflow crowd.
Reynolds has conducted interviews with more than 40 persons who were closely involved in dealing with the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and his followers in the tumultuous years between 1981 and 1985. Her work has uncovered many previously unreported stories of the effects of the red-clad cult’s presence in Wasco County.
The program on the 1856 military/stagecoach road through Klickitat County scheduled on the Saturday of many snow cancellations has been rescheduled for March 1. Regional History Forum programs are screened live on a TV monitor on the ground floor of the 1859 courthouse for those unable to climb the stairs. Coffee and cookies will be served after the program.
Reel Youth Film Festival comes March 6
Save the Date: March 6, the Skylight Theater will hold the Reel Youth Film Festival, presented by Columbia Center for the Arts, Skylight Theater and Mr. Elive Productions. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $10 at the door. This festival showcases youth-made film projects from local and international film makers.
Coughlin and Growlers Friday at Double Mountain
Friday, Feb. 21, hear Matt Coughlin and the Growlers, reunited, doing their roots rock at 9:30 p.m. at Double Mountain.
Lucas Ward visits, hits three gigs
Lucas Ward, an Italy-based musician with the band The Silver Snails, does a mini-tour of Hood River starting Friday with a solo show at 8:45 p.m., opening for Matt Coughlin and the Growlers.
Ward will jam with Susan Crowley and other jazz musicians at 5 p.m. in Valentino’s Lounge at Columbia Gorge Hotel, and at 9:30 p.m. he puts the rock and roll shoes back on for a 9:30 p.m. show at CEBU Lounge at Best Western Hood River Inn.
Hapa Hillbillies perform Monday at HR Hotel
