Lions’ tree disposal day Jan. 11

Cleaning up after Christmas is tiring enough, without having to load a dry, needle-dropping old tree into your car and haul it to the transfer station.

There is an easier way, courtesy of the Hood River Lions Club.you. Set your tree by the curb before 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, and club members will pick it up sometime that day and get rid of it for you.

There’s no charge for the service, said Project Chair Scott Thomson, but the club will gladly welcome donations.

“This project has two benefits,” said Thomson. “It saves people a lot of hassle, and it serves as a fundraiser to support Lions Club youth, sight and hearing activities.”

Club members will leave donation envelopes in exchange for every tree they remove.

As it did last Christmas, the City of Hood River is generously supporting the tree pickup project by making space available for tree drops.

n The Hood River City Public Works Department will accept Christmas trees at its facility at 18th and May between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through Wednesday, Jan. 15. Please check in at the office before dropping trees off.

n The Hood River Transfer Station, 3440 Guignard Road (541-386-4676) will also accept Christmas trees. Yard debris and tree disposal on Wednesdays is free.
