Kiteboarding 4 Cancer is this weekend

The annual weekend fundraiser and fun-raiser, Kiteboarding 4 Cancer, takes place this weekend at the Hood River Event Site. Saturday features the event’s signature contest, a six-hour endurance kite race on a three-mile circular course; Sunday is a series of team relay events and throughout both days a variety of beachside activities, arts and entertainment will take place at the Event Site.

Art and auctions also have a prevelant presence in the event, and the variety of auctions and raffles over both days will go to help raise money for the event’s beneficiary, Camp Koru survivorship camps.

CGRA hosts Laser North American Championships

Cascade Locks’ Columbia Gorge Racing Association is hosting two large events this week. Thursday is the annual Laser Gorge Blowout – an 18-mile white-knuckle race from Cascade Locks to Hood River. From July 11-13, CGRA hosts the 2014 Laser Masters North American Championships. Racing action over the three days will be based out of the Cascade Locks Marina and CGRA’s headquarters.
