Food bank benefit Aug. 2

The Oregon Good Sam Club is hosting a benefit concert for the Hood River Food Bank on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 2-4 p.m. at the Hood River County Fairgrounds in Odell, with featured music from Kerry Williams and the Huckleberry Pickers singing group. Admission is by donation of non-perishable food items. Bring lawn chairs or blankets, no alcohol permitted.

Trout Lake Fair Aug. 1-3

The 49th Annual Trout Lake Fair happens Aug. 1-3, expect lots of fun for the whole family.

The Fire Weeds Trio in Dufur July 26

Enjoy a concert at one of Oregon’s oldest hotels, the Historic Balch Hotel on Saturday, July 26, from 5-8 p.m. with the Fire Weeds Trio playing its brand of “Wide Open Americana” music (www.facebook.com/thefireweeds). The concerts are free and open to the entire family. At each concert food, beer, wine, ice cream, and sodas will be available for purchase. The Dufur Historical Society annual fundraising barbeque will be available. Guests can bring a blanket, lawn chair, or just enjoy the lawn.

Folksinger, storyteller Adam Miller plays Hood River Library Aug. 12

Adam Miller, one of the premier autoharpists in the world, a renowned American folksinger and natural-born storyteller will perform at the the Hood River Library on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m.

An accomplished folklorist, historian, musicologist, and song-collector, he has amassed a remarkable repertoire of over 5,000 songs. Miller accompanies his rich, resonant baritone voice with lively finger-picking acoustic guitar and stunningly beautiful autoharp melodies.

A masterful entertainer who never fails to get his audience singing along, he has distinguished himself as one of the great interpreters of American folktales and folksongs, and as a performer who appeals to audiences of all ages.
