‘In the Next Room’ June 20-21

“In the Next Room” or the “vibrator play” is a comedy about marriage, intimacy, electricity, and the alternating currents of desire. Nominated for the 2010 Tony Award for Best Play and selected as a Finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize, “In the Next Room” will be directed by Tom Burns.

Set in the 1880s at the dawn of the age of electricity and based on the bizarre historical fact that doctors used vibrators to treat 'hysterical' women (and some men), the play centers on a doctor and his wife and how his new therapy affects their entire household.

Performances will be June 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Columbia Center for the Arts’ CAST Theater. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors (62+). Disclaimer/Content: Mature audiences only. This production explores adult themes and contains adult content. Children ages 12 and under will not be admitted without an accompanying parent or adult guardian. Children under four years of age, including babies, will not be admitted. Tickets are available at Columbia Arts, 215 Cascade Ave. in downtown Hood River.
