Elks Charity Golf Tourney June 28 benefits student scholarships

Hood  River Elks Lodge is hosting its 17th annual fundraiser golf tournament on Saturday, June 28, at Indian Creek Golf Course. Proceeds from the four-person scramble tournament go toward Elks student scholarship and awards programs, including the Student of the Month and Student of the Year programs. New this year is a sponsorship by Mid-Columbia Marine and Motorsports, which has provided four hole-in-one prizes — two motorcycles and two ATVs — for each of the course’s par-threes.

Registration is $300 per team or $75 per person at the course’s pro shop.

Mt. Adams Country Bicycle Tour is June 28

The 12th annual Mt. Adams Country Bicycle Tour rides June 28; the event is a road ride of varying lengths around the scenic south side of Mount Adams, based from Trout Lake School. For more info or register, visit troutlakewashington.com.

Sternwheeler 5K/10K is Saturday

Accompanying the city of Cascade Locks’ annual Sternwheeler Days is the annual 5K/10K run, which starts at 9 a.m. from the port park near the museum (registration will be just west of the museum on S.W. Portage Road. The cost is $2, or free for Columbia Gorge Running Club members. More info at columbiagorgerunningclub.com.

Catch Maryhill Festival of Speed

The annual Maryhill Festival of Speed starts Wednesday and runs through the weekend on the Maryhill Loops Road east of Biggs. The event is known as North America’s largest gravity sports festival and will feature more than 250 downhill skateboarders from 24 countries racing down the world-famous 2.2-mile stretch of asphalt. Saturday and Sunday will be the best day for championship action. See maryhillfestivalofspeed.com for event details and schedules.
