Ethan Field led the Hood River Valley snowboard team this past Sunday in Oregon Interscholastic Snowboard Association action at Mt. Hood Meadows. Field finished first in a heated boardercross event and followed with a third-place finish in the banked slalom race. Teammate Ian Barnard-Davidson, from Horizon Christian School, wasn’t far behind with a runner-up result in boardercross, while Kennan Collins was the next-best finisher in banked slalom at 10th out of the 42-person field. Girls team members Aleah and Rain Vaday finished 11th and 12th in their banked slalom races.

The team competes March 8 and 9 at Mt. Hood Meadows in slopestyle and halfpipe events before heading to the state contest at Mount Bachelor March 12-15. To help raise the roughly $8,000 the team needs for the state trip, team members will be selling local business discount cards Friday and Saturday in front of Rosauers Supermarket. In addition to the discount cards, the team is looking for individual or business sponsors willing to help fund the trip. Sponsors will be recognized post-season. To donate call team manager Christy Field at 541-399-6943.
