My name is Amar Mann. I am a senior at Horizon Christian School, and currently interning at Hood River News. I was born in California and moved up north when I was around 10 years old.
I have a brother who is enrolled at Oregon State University, a mother who works for Estee Lauder, and a father who is a business owner.
I am a senior at Horizon Christian School in Hood River. I have attended HCS since eighth grade. I am currently taking five classes, including three AP courses. I’m also taking an internship for my spring semester at Hood River News.
My favorite things to do on my free time are to hang out with friends, play sports, video games, or listen to music. I’ve played golf, soccer, basketball, and baseball. I am currently on the varsity basketball team at Horizon and plan on playing baseball in the spring.
This past weekend, our team won 1A districts in Hermiston. We have a play-in game for state this Saturday and if that goes well, state in two weeks.
During this spring semester, I would like to learn a lot of things, starting from the basics. Interning at the Hood River News is my first taste of a real job. So getting experience in a working environment is great.
Watching how a company conducts itself firsthand is a very rewarding opportunity at a young age. Learning how to write articles and papers would be very beneficial if I decide to do something in management or marketing as well.
I believe I can learn a lot by doing this over the semester, such as writing skills, working skills, being prompt, and actually having some responsibility.
I am currently set to graduate from high school in June with a 3.5 GPA.
My plan for after high school would be to enroll at Pacific Lutheran University, Washington State or University of Washington in the fall and get a bachelor’s degree in either business management or marketing.
