March 11 is final day to file for May primary

March 11 is the filing deadline for anyone wanting to run for three open positions on the Hood River County Board of Commissioners on May 20 Primary Election ballot.

All three incumbents have filed for re-election with Hood River County Elections Department: Chairman Ron Rivers, Karen Joplin of Position 1 and Bob Benton of Position 3.

At press time Friday, the positions remained uncontested.

Candidates must file in person by 5 p.m. on March 11. The Elections office is located at the County Administration Building, Sixth and State streets. Call 541-386-1442 for details.

The deadline is the same for anyone filing for U.S. Senate seat, held by Jeff Merkley, and U.S. House of Representatives District 2, which includes Hood River, held by Greg Walden.

Hood River and Cascade Locks mayor and some council seats are up for vote in November; those filing dates are this summer.
