Pet of the Week: Harry is ‘calm, happy fella’

This week volunteers at Adopt A Dog have selected Harry as the program’s adoptable pet of the week. They describe him as follows:

“Well, they just don’t come any nicer than Harry! Harry’s about 2 years old, 60 pounds and one calm, happy fella! He has excellent doggie manners, knows a few commands and just wants to make his family happy.

“Harry is an excellent walker on the leash, and playful with other respectful dogs. He used to live with a small 10-pound canine friend and they’d get pretty rowdy — all in fun — but we’re working on teaching Harry how to keep his ninja side under cover.

“Like all ninjas, Harry loves a good belly rub, or scratch on his hiney, and he’s learned the joys of fetch and squeaky toys, but mostly he just likes to hang around and enjoy life. One of our volunteers thinks Harry would make an excellent therapy dog, and we agree!

“If you’re looking for a calm, happy, beautiful new family member, Harry is your man — uh, dog!”

He’s current on shots, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $185. The fee to adopt is charged to recoup standard veterinary expenses.

Since many of AAD’s dogs are in foster care, please call ahead to meet Harry at the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Drive, Odell; 541-354-1083.

Adoption hours are Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9-11 a.m. Applications may be downloaded at and faxed to 877-833-7166.
