Horizon golf season ends

Horizon Christian School’s golf team ended its season this week with the OSAA 3A/2A/1A Special District 5 championships at Pendleton Country Club, and although no one from the team qualified for next week’s state championships in Corvallis, Coach Oscar Stenberg is pleased with the way his players performed.

Mason Bloomster had the best two-day total of 185, good enough for seventh place out of the 23-player field. Not far behind was Ian Walker with a ninth place score of 187, followed by Austin Requa (196), Alex Trans (207) and Rocky Lemley (229). The lone Horizon girls player, Anna Robinson, finished with a mind-pack score of 272: 134 on the first day and 138 on the second.

Team scores saw the Horizon boys finish fourth in the five-team special district. Echo/Stanfield was first and Grant Union second to secure their trips to state, while the girls tournament had Wallowa and Nyssa finish as the top two teams.
