Cowboy Gathering returns Nov. 29
The 8th annual Columbia Gorge Cowboy Gathering will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, at The Dalles Civic Auditorium. Doors open for a free matinee from 1 to 5 p.m., with open mic and invited guests performing cowboy poetry and western music. There will be western lifestyle vendors on hand. The ticketed evening show features the 2013 Academy of Western Artists’ “Male Vocalist of the Year,” Mr. RJ Vandygriff. Also appearing is Rockin’ HW, a blend of cowboy poetry and western music, and cowboy poet Duane Lee Nelson. Tickets are available at The Feed Shack and Klindt’s Booksellers in The Dalles, and will also be for sale at the door.

Friday, Nov. 21, Science! 9:30 p.m. Acoustic Rock Duo Science! is comprised of Seattle guitarist and vocalist Justin Stang and multi-instrumentalist Jim Elenteny. For a stripped down two guitar, two mic set, the duo offers a full sound sure to turn any unfamiliar listener into a fist-shaking enthusiast.
Saturday, Nov. 22, Dirty Revival, 9:30 p.m. Soul Meets Hip-Hop. The dynamic, five-piece soul-meets-hip-hop outfit shines on stage, and defines influences from funk- and soul-infused icons of the past. Best Western Plus Hood River Inn, 1108 E. Marina Way; 541-386-2200.
Acousta Noir at Springhouse
Music in the Backroom at Springhouse continues on Tuesday, Nov. 25, starting at 6 p.m. with Roots-Punk One-Man-Band Acousta Noir. Free admission, all-ages show. “Coming from a background shaped by punk, rock and roll, roots, and various traditional folk styles, Acousta Noir brings a unique, yet oddly familiar, set of original songs to the table, along with his renditions of select and obscure covers. Joshua first began playing music in 1994, and has been a part of a varied array of musical projects. These include punk bands (as a singer, guitarist, and drummer), singing for a heavy metal band, and a couple projects playing the upright bass. ‘Woodwind’ cancelled; volunteers needed
The Woodwind without Borders concert at the Columbia Center for the Arts is cancelled for Saturday Nov. 22 due to unforeseen circumstances.
