With the holiday shopping and giving season approaching, Gorge Owned (GO!) encourages residents to take the GO! Local Challenge, a sweepstakes that rewards people for supporting locally owned businesses and making donations to local nonprofits.
Taking the GO! Local Challenge is simple
First, make three purchases totaling $50 at locally owned businesses in any of the five counties of the Gorge. (Donations to local nonprofits count as a purchase).
Next, enter your purchases in a simple form at www.gorgeowned.org/local.
Finally, enter to win drawings for prizes donated by participating businesses.
Participants can double their chances of winning on Black Friday (Nov. 28) and Small Business Saturday (Nov. 29). On those days, all entries will get counted twice.
Since launching the GO! Local Challenge in 2011, 435 people in all five counties of the Gorge have taken the challenge, spending a total of $100,372.84.
GO! expects a record number of participants this holiday season, thanks to partnerships with the Mt Adams, Skamania County, and Hood River County chambers of commerce as well as CenterPointe Community Bank and media sponsors including the Hood River News, White Salmon Enterprise, the Skamania County Pioneer and BiCoastal Media.
