Gorge Grown Food Network will be hosting Feeding the Gorge: Community Conversations this winter in order to provide local residents with the opportunity to share their ideas and inspirations for the local food system.
This monthly series will take place at Springhouse Cellars from December until April and will address challenges and opportunities of the local food system in the Gorge. There will be food and drinks available for purchase.
The first conversation will be held on Dec. 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The topic for the evening will be “Gorge Farmers’ Markets, Where Do We Go from Here?” There will be a brief introduction to what is currently happening with the 10 markets in the Gorge and then several breakout groups that will discuss potential future development of the markets and report back to the group as a whole. Farmers, crafters and shoppers from across the region should attend to help guide the planning for the next phase of market growth in our region.
“Without community involvement and support, there is no local food system. It takes all of us working together to create a resilient network,” says Todd Dierker, Food Access Programs Manager.
