Santa Sightings

Good news, boys and girls — Santa Claus is coming to town (and more than once) this Christmas season, and you can find him at the following locations:

Nov. 29 — Photos with Santa, 11-2 p.m. at the Hood River Hotel. Fundraiser for Adopt A Dog animal shelter. Donations accepted for photos with children or pets.

Dec. 5 — Hood River Holidays kick-off celebration, 5-9 p.m. in downtown Hood River. Old fashioned parade, lighting of the community tree, caroling, cocoa, cookies and Santa. Oak Street from 6th to 2nd streets will be closed during and after the parade.

Dec. 5 — Photos with Santa, 7-9 p.m. (following Hood River downtown tree lighting) at the Hood River Hotel. Fundraiser for Adopt A Dog animal shelter. Donations accepted for photos with children or pets.

Dec. 6 — Breakfast with Santa, 8-11 a.m. at West Side Fire Department Rockford Station. All-you-can-eat breakfast with ham, eggs and pancakes. Children of all ages may get their picture taken with Santa. All proceeds go towards the Leo Phillips Scholarship fund that honors students each year.

Dec. 6 — Eyeopeners Lions Club photos with Santa, 10-3 p.m. at the Columbia Gorge Hotel. Free with donation of nonperishable food items for Hood River County Christmas Project. For more info call Erma Hickman, 541-386-2582.

Dec. 6 — Photos with Santa, 11-2 p.m. at the Hood River Hotel. Fundraiser for Adopt A Dog animal shelter. Donations accepted for photos with children or pets.

Dec. 6 — Santa Claus in the town of Mt. Hood, 11-4 p.m. at Mt. Hood Socialize, 6540 Cooper Spur Road, Mt. Hood/Parkdale. Take a picture with Santa on your camera, or have one taken and emailed to you at no charge. Fundraiser for the Mt. Hood Socialize “Swiss Chalet Food Cart.” Volunteers call 541-400-0481.

Dec. 6 — Holiday open house and community appreciation at at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum, 11:30-2 p.m., 5000 Discovery Drive, The Dalles. Complimentary cookies and hot cider. Take a photo with Santa Claus, enjoy store discounts all day, and an optional Mexican food buffet in honor of our traveling Smithsonian exhibit “Bittersweet Harvest: The Bracero Program.”

Dec. 7 — Visit with Santa, 1-3 p.m. at the Mt. Hood Town Hall. Pictures with Santa, decorate cookies, hot drinks and holiday crafts. Free.

Dec. 7 — Festival of Lights, starting at 4 p.m. at the Cascade Locks City Hall building. Tree lighting, caroling, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” with Cindy Lou Who, crafts, face painting, cookies and warm refreshments, and Santa.

Dec. 13 — Photos with Santa, 11-2 p.m. at the Hood River Hotel. Fundraiser for Adopt A Dog animal shelter. Donations accepted for photos with children or pets.

Dec. 15 — Santa photo fundraiser for Lila May Schow, 5-8-ish p.m. at Double Mountain Brewery. Ray Perkins Photography will be shooting the photos. Hot chocolate, cookies and candy canes provided.
