Church Notes for Oct. 1

Valley Christian presents ‘Jesus Fatwah’ series:

A new video series for adults begins on Oct. 5 at Hood River Valley Christian Church, 975 Indian Creek Road. The series, entitled “The Jesus Fatwah: Love Your (Muslim) Neighbor,” explores Christian-Muslim relations. It seeks to correct common misperceptions of Islam and help Christians build accurate — and neighborly — understandings of that major world religion.

Muslim and Christian leaders are featured in the videos. The hour-long class starts at 9 a.m. and is open to all interested church members and friends, as well as members of the community at large.

An accompanying participant reader is available at a nominal cost. For more information, call the HRVCC office at 386-2608.

Riverside blesses animals in Sunday service:

Riverside Community Church invites community members to join in a lively, spirit-filled worship experience on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at its historic location in downtown Hood River.

“People are invited to bring their beloved creatures or a photo or other symbol of the animal to the service for a time of blessing,” explained Riverside pastor Vicky Stifter. “We will gather to celebrate the inspiring life and inclusive ministry of St. Francis of Assisi and bless all of God’s good and precious creation—the two legged, the four legged, the winged and the swimmers.”

The church is located at 4th and State Streets in Hood River. For more information contact the church office at: 541-386-1412 or
