Annelise Acosta and Miriam Starrett have been recognized as National Merit Scholarship Commended Students, Hood River Valley High School Principal Rich Polkinghorn announced Friday.
“Annelise and Miriam are outstanding students with outstanding academic records. Both these young ladies are involved in school and community activities and are leaders on our campus,” Polkinghorn said.
“This commendation is a reflection of the dedication these students put toward their studies. I hope this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic excellence”.”
Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2015 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT (PSAT.)
