Sports Briefs for Oct. 18

Vampires and Victims run is Saturday

Get your freak on with the Hood River Valley High School Booster Club’s Vampires and Victims fun run and fundraiser Oct. 18, 6:30 p.m. at HRVHS. The Halloween-themed event – suitably held as a fundraiser for HRV athletics concussion testing programs – is a game of chase or be chased. Participants of the run are assigned the role of either vampire or victim, and are thus released in the first (victims) or second (vampires) wave to run the 5K nighttime course around the school campus and Indian Creek Trail.

Registration starts at 6 p.m. at the HRV football field and the fun kicks off at 6:15 p.m. with kids’ fun run and Halloween Piñata, followed by a 2K elementary school run before the 5k finale. Headlamps and costumes are highly recommended. Registration is $10 with a costume, $15 without and $5 for the kids’ fun run.

Hood River Saddle Club is hosting rummage sale Saturday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at its 4384 Belmont Street location to help raise money for the Phelps Creek Equestrian Trail currently under construction.
