Halloween Happenings


Oct. 30 — Halloween Market, 4-7 p.m. at the Hood River Farmer’s Market, Springhouse Cellar Winery. Costume contest, bobbing for apples, pumpkin carving, caramel apples and spooky fun for all. Costumes encouraged. More than 25 vendors selling meat and eggs, fruits and veggies, baked goods and hot food, with live music and kids’ activities. Food stamps, WIC and debit cards accepted.

Oct. 30 — Zumba Party fundraiser to benefit United Way of the Columbia Gorge, 6-7:30 p.m. at Wahtonka Community School, 3601 W. 10th St. $5 entry. Zumba, dancing, costume contest, prizes.

Oct. 31 — Pick up a free book at the Hood River library from 4-7 p.m. Enjoy cider and popcorn, and check out the library’s books and DVD collections.

Oct. 31 — Halloween at Hawks Ridge Assisted Living, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Trick or treating with a superhero theme. Prizes, games and candy. Hawks Ridge is located at 1795 8th St., Hood River.

Oct. 31 — Free Halloween community carnival, anytime from 5:30-8 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9th and State. Children’s game booths, prizes, candy, refreshments, popcorn, balloons, family photo booths, foosball, air hockey, Nerf gun competitions, mini golf and more.

Oct. 31 — Trunk or Treat, 6-9 p.m. at the Church of Christ parking lot, 1512 Tucker Rd.

Oct. 31 — FISH fundraiser at the Hood River Aquatic Center, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Free admission with donation of canned goods. One donation per admission. While any canned item is welcome, FISH is in need of canned soups, beans and tomatoes.


Oct. 31 — Halloween costume contest, during lunch at Hood River Valley Adult Center. Open to all seniors. Prizes for first, second and third place. Sponsored by Parkhurst Place Senior Living.

October 31 — Friday Fun Lunch with Andre & K.C., 11-1:30 p.m. at HR Valley Adult Center, 2010 Sterling Place, off Brookside Drive on the Heights. Halloween costume contest and lunch sponsored by Parkhurst Place; prizes for first, second and third place. Dancers and listeners welcome!

Oct. 31 — Murder Mystery Night at the Museum, 7-10 p.m. at the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center, Stevenson. Masquerade Ball live murder mystery show. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and signature cocktails. Ball attire not required, but there will be a prize for best costume. Reservations required; call 800-221-7117.
