Rock, Paper, Scissors

Cody Colloton, 15, won the $500 top prize in the annual Rock Paper Scissors competition sponsored by Andrew’s Pizza and Mr. Elive Productions Sept. 5. With him are his brother, Chase, and Alex English of Mr. Elive. Above, the field for Rock Paper Scissors fills Oak Street (closed for the occasion between First and Second.) Hundreds of contestants lined up for the simple competition of laying down a closed fist (rock), flat hand (paper) and two fingers (scissors) each of which can cancel out one other gesture; paper covers rock, rock smashes scissors, scissors cut paper. The block of Oak was a First Friday party scene, between “RPS” and the 30th anniversary party two doors down at Doug’s, where kids got balloons and face painting, and won prizes in cornhole competition.
