HRCSO investigating assault at motel in CL

The Hood River County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating an assault that took place at a Cascade Locks motel early Tuesday morning.

Hood River County Sheriff Matt English said a 21-year-old male tenant of the hotel received minor injuries in an assault that took place at approximately 3 a.m. Tuesday at the Columbia Gorge Inn, located at 404 WaNaPa St. The victim, whose name law enforcement declined to release Tuesday morning, was transported to Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital.

Portland media originally reported an assault with a firearm had occurred, but English did not confirm this, although he noted that, “nobody was shot” and that “no serious injury” had been sustained by the victim. English reported that a female caller originally contacted dispatch about the crime.

No suspect was in custody as of 10 a.m. Tuesday. English said at the time, he was unable to release any additional information about the incident, noting it was an “open and active investigation.”

Oregon State Police and the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident.
